Artist Statement
For many people, art is a way to convey or make sense of emotions--a thing of the heart. My art, however, is a direct reflection of my mind. The underlying theme across my life is the strive for stoic realism. The need to know, understand, and analyze things without the interference of emotion: these are the ideas that permeate my artwork. This results in conceptual art that at times abandons attention to detail for the sake of getting across a certain point or idea. In everything you see, there will be an idea that I want to get across or show, rather than a particular emotion or feeling. Because of this, there are few instances where things make absolutely no sense. My art isn't primarily about instilling emotion or the struggles of life; my art is an attempt to convey the many random thoughts that occupy the space between my skull at any given moment.
